About the Opportunity:
The New Zealand at Expo Team (within New Zealand Trade and Enterprise) is offering a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent our country at the New Zealand Pavilion during Expo 2020 Dubai.
Expo 2020 Dubai is a six-month global event hosted in Dubai, United Arab Emirates between October 2020 and April 2021. 192 countries will participate in Expo 2020 to share their innovations, ideas and stories with an expected 25 million visits from across the globe.
You could be one of 14 lucky interns working within a wider team to help showcase New Zealand's trade, investment, education and travel opportunities, as well as our premium food and beverage to international visitors to the Pavilion.
About the Internships:
There are two types of internship roles available:
Hosts (up to 11 positions available) - you are the face of the New Zealand Pavilion Experience as you engage with visitors throughout all aspects of their experience; from the waiting/queue space, inside the actual Pavilion, right through to their farewell experience.
Maitre D' (up to 3 positions available) - creating a warm, professional first impression, our Head waiters will help showcase exceptional New Zealand food and beverage. These talented hospitality professionals will ensure a seamless front of house experience and memorable, polished casual service.
Successful candidates will work 48 hours per week (6 days per week, 8 hours per day - standard work week in Dubai under local law)
Skills & Experience:
You will be representing New Zealand on a global event like no other! We are looking for passionate people who have exceptional customer service, show manaaki, and have a strong, proud connection to New Zealand!
Qualifications, skills and knowledge:
Excellent customer service, personal presentation and communication skills
Maitre D' applicants should be able to demonstrate applicable experience, and relevant hospitality qualifications are desirable
Ability to work effectively within a team
Fluency in another language would be an advantage
New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
Minimum age of 21 (as of 30 September 2020)
Current valid passport (for the duration of Expo 2020)
Available for full duration in Dubai (September 2020 to April 2021)
Must be able to pass a NZ Police/Ministry of Justice check
