How to participate
NZTE's Expo 2020 Business Leverage Programme
New Zealand Trade & Enterprise is running a series of activities to help New Zealand exporters gain value from Expo 2020 Dubai. The United Arab Emirates is New Zealand’s 10th largest trading partner; and is also a crucial global trade hub and a gateway to South Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
The NZTE programme will help New Zealand businesses connect with important global business networks throughout Expo 2020 Dubai, while also working to improve understandings of key Middle East markets. There are three streams to the Expo Business Leverage Programme, with options for both exporters new to the Middle East and those already in market.
- Discover Middle East is a market validation programme for FMCG, Healthcare and Agritech exporters new to the Middle East. It will help fast-track their understanding of markets such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. It has a New Zealand component, including online learning modules, webinars, capability building activity and Beachhead advisor meetings in New Zealand. Following this will be the in-market element: week-long business trips to the UAE and/or Saudi Arabia in 2022.
- The Accelerate Expo 2020 Summits will be key networking events for New Zealand exporters that have been doing business in the Middle East. These will be demand driven and targeted to specific sectors and hosted during key trade events during Expo 2020 Dubai including GITEX 2021 (17 – 21 October), Abu Dhabi Sustainability week 2022 (January) and Arab Health 2022 (24 – 27 January).
- The NZTE Food & Beverage Programme at Expo 2020 Dubai will offer a range of platforms to showcase New Zealand’s F&B in the region. It will include opportunity to be part of B2B events for regional buyers from India, Middle East and Africa at the New Zealand pavilion, buyer-matchmaking and Made with Care campaign retail, PR, influencer activities between November 2021 and January 2022.

Note: Given the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Expo Business Leverage Programme is currently planned with activities being delivered both in-market (Dubai and wider region) and virtual elements. Hosting an event in the New Zealand pavilion
The pavilion’s design and experience will be a great attraction and a point of conversation for visitors.
Located in the Sustainability District of the Expo 2020 Dubai site, the pavilion was designed by Jasmax architects and the pavilion’s visitor experience is led by Haumi (Karl Johnstone), Workshop e and Ngā Tāngata Tiaki o Whanganui.
The pavilion will also include a restaurant and a flexible event spaces for New Zealand businesses to utilise throughout Expo 2020 Dubai. As a business, you’ll be able to impress stakeholders and potential clients at the New Zealand pavilion.
Organise product launches or demonstrations, create a food and beverage sampling experience in the test kitchen, host stakeholders for lunch, dinner or cocktail receptions, hold meetings, multimedia presentations or seminars and organize marketing activations and events.

Hosting an event during the Taste New Zealand month
Throughout January 2022, we will profile the best of New Zealand culinary talent, products and experiences in the New Zealand Pavilion.
This will be a chance to showcase New Zealand’s exceptional food and beverage to buyers and consumers in the UAE and from the wider IMEA region, with additional exposure to visitors from South Asia, China and Europe.
Companies that already have a presence in the UAE market can make the most of the opportunity to showcase their products, working with famous New Zealand chefs at the pavilion’s restaurant and using its demonstration kitchen for events.

Parris will be creating a unique cultural experience for visitors at Expo 2020 Dubai that will showcase New Zealand's talented creatives and artists to the world.
